As we already explained on this blog, the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation, the new Europe-wide law governing the use and handling of personal data) will take effect on May 25th, 2018. This new Regulation will apply both to offline and online activities for any kind of company. Speaking of which, much has been already done by Kloudymail and we are gradually working to make sure that our software for sending newsletter will be fully adapted to the news standards by May 25th, 2018. Our first aim is to make our clients legally guaranteed so you can operate and send your newsletter with no worries.
GDPR and the right to rectification, what are we talking about?
In Chapter IV, Article 16 of the GDPR we can find information about the right of rectification. The right of access is not new, but there are certain changes that the GDPR brings. This is what the article 16 states:
“The data subject shall have the right to obtain from the controller without undue delay the rectification of inaccurate personal data concerning him or her. Taking into account the purposes of the processes, the data subject shall have the right to have incomplete personal data completed, including by means of providing a supplementary statement”.
Kloudymail and the right to rectification
All the users of the software for sending newsletter Kloudymail can find information about the updating of our features by taking a look at the home page of the platform, above on the left of the page. There you can read the following sentence:
“Our software complies with all obligations, so we ask you to avoid improper practices that could even lead to the freezing of your lists. The GDPR introduces new rights for users such as the right to rectification: you can rectify your personal information at any time from your account settings. The GDPR also reinforces the criteria for obtaining consent, therefore you should avoid spamming, buying unverified lists of sending e-mails without the user’s consent”.
Practically speaking, to respect the right to rectification is very easy if you use Kloudymail. You just have to operate as follows:
- Create or modify your template by using K-Bricks;
- Drag and drop unsubscription and modify preferences brick in the template.
It is a child’s play, isn’t it?
The right to rectification in Kloudymail, what does it change for the recipients?
The recipients of your newsletter’s campaigns won’t see big changes in your e-mails. At the bottom of your communications, they will merely find the unsubscription and modify preferences link, which they can use to modify their personal data in your ownership.
Everything clear? You can be constantly updated about GDPR and its impacts on e-mail marketing activities by reading our blog and the GDPR page on our website!
