How to profile an e-mail marketing campaign

Do you want to send an e-mail marketing campaign only to apart of the contacts of your list? For example, just to users living in Milan or just to women? You can use filters! Here you can learn how to profile an e-mail marketing campaign.

1 Choose the section “campaigns” on the menu on the left. Complete all the information needed in the first step of the campaign creation.

2 Click on “add filter”. You will open the following screen:

3 Choose the field you want to apply a filter to (for example, company, name or city), then the type of filter (“equal to”, “not equal to”, “begin with”…) and the matched value. For example, if you want to send this campaign only to recipients living in a specific city, you will chose “city”, “equal to” and then the city name, for example “Brescia”. Your campaign will be sent only to contacts that meet this parameter.

4 Click on “confirm” and proceed with the creation, control and sending of your e-mail marketing campaign.

Different types of filters:

Filters vary according to the selected field. Here you can find all the type of filters that you can apply using Kloudymail:

How to create a newsletter campaign

You can create a newsletter campaign in two different ways:

1. Directly from the dashboard clicking on the “add new campaign” button on the “last campaigns and statistics” window.

2. From the menu on the left, opening the campaigns section and clicking on “create new campaign”.

Kloudymail will guide you through four simple steps:

  1. Name & List:in this section you will choose the campaigns name (that will not be seen by recipients, it’s just for internal use, to distinguish it from other campaigns). You will also choose the subject of the newsletter and the recipient list (real or virtual). Then, specify the sender name and email and the sending domain (assigned according to your licenses). With Kloudymail you can also track your campaigns with Google Analytics. Here you can also add filters (click here to learn more on how to profile the campaign), so that you can send your communication to a part of your list.

  1. Choose template:in this section you can choose which template you want to send. Choose among your personal templates (that you have previously created and that you saved in a dedicated section, click here to learn more); Kloudy templates are ready made models created by us to help you: with K-Bricks templates you can create a new template using our drag and drop editor; clicking on empty template, then, you can write your template’s HTML.
  1. Edit contents:in this section you can edit the contents and the layout of your newsletter. You can use different tools to make your communication more effective. You can see four different buttons on the left: the first one allows to see a preview of your template on the browser you are currently using; the second one allows you to send a test email to your personal address, to control its links, texts and layout on your email client: with the third one you can check if your newsletter is visualized correctly on the email clients you choose (you can decide to select only the clients used by your recipients); the last button controls the contents of your newsletter, to find any element that may let you end up in the spam box

Moreover, in this step you can add variables to your newsletter, customizing both the message body and the subject.

  1. Send campaign: in the last step there is a summary of all the information about your campaign and a preview of its contents. The message is ready to be sent, you just have to decide if you want to send it immediately or if you prefer to schedule it, choosing a precise day and hour.

With Kloudymail, it is really easy to analyze  the Statistics of the readers, bounce and unsubscribersis really easy: you just need to open the right section.

Here you can find all the data from people that have read the communication. Clicking on the e-mail address, you will see even more detail, as the opening time, the link that have been seen and which previous newsletters were opened from the same contact.

Here you can find all the data of all people that asked to be deleted from your list. In this way, you can export them and make a control on your other list in order to delete them from the whole system.

For how long do the statistics of the campaigns last?

In order to improve Kloudymail’s services and performances, you will have the chance of deeply investigating the campaign statistics of the last six months. In this way, you will be able to have all your clients’ preferences, divided into clicks, readers, bounces and unsubscribers.

The details of the oldest campaign will be aggregate in order to speed up Kloudymail’s performances and streamline the usage. You will see the general information connected with the campaign (name, object, sender, and a list of recipients), the total reader, the reading and not reading, the number of clicks (divided in single and total). All the collected data will be downloadable in pdf/CSV, in this way you will always be able to check them whenever you want.

Usually, the data will be deleted after 180 days from the sending date. If you need to have them for more time just write us!

In the statistics overview, you can find general information connected with the detail of a specific campaign (name, object, list, sending time and day). You can also find a summary, in the percentage, of the readers, clicks, bounce and unsubscribers.

Scrolling down the page, you can find another graphic. Here we are getting deep into the data, seeing the percentage of the delivered e-mail, of the readers and of the clickers. Moreover, there is the distinction between the total readers (all the people that actually saw the newsletter), the total reading (how many time the newsletter was opened) and the average of the reading per users.

For what it might concern the clicks, you can see the distinction between the total number of clickers, the number of the clicks, the click in average and the CTR (click through rate).

The software, moreover, keeps track of the tools used to read your newsletter, diversifying between mobile and desktop. In this way, you can know what you should take in consideration in order to create responsive e-mails.

Kloudymail divides data according to time and day in which the newsletter was read. In this way, you can know when your clients are more responsive to your communication so that you can send your next campaigns at the right time.

At the end of the statistic page, we can find single data in the time: the software compares the data of the previous campaign with the selected campaigns, sent to the same list. In this way, you can understand which of you campaign was more successful and you can think about your next one trying to have more success.

Can my contacts answer to a different address from the default one?

With the function “reply to” you can insert the address that you wish your clients can answer to.

The new functionality was inserted in order to make the use of the platform easier to those contacts that are interested in receiving answers to the newsletter to a different address. Usually, the newsletter is sent from an address like info@ or news@ or also newsletter@. Often these boxes are not real or they are not checked by the person who takes care of newsletters. Usually, it could be useful to have a different address to simplify the work.

With the “reply to”, you add whichever address you might prefer! For example, you will be able to insert the e-mail of the marketing team or the one of the selling team, according to your communication strategy.

How and where should you insert the different domain?

In the first step of the creation of the campaign (if you want to know how to create a campaign just click here) you should select the option “reply to”.

 

Once that you selected this option, you will be able to insert the e-mail that you wish could receive the answer that your clients will give after the sending of your e-mail marketing campaign. Here you can specify the sender name that your contact will see whenever they will write the answer to the address that you might prefer.
